Does God Still Love Me When I Make Mistakes? Helping Children Understand God's Grace

It happened at bedtime. The lights were dim. The room was quiet. After a long day, my child looked up and asked softly: "Does God still love me when I make mistakes?" Perhaps your child has asked a similar question. Maybe they didn't use those exact words. Perhaps it sounded more like: "Is God angry with me?" "Did I disappoint God?" "Will God stop loving me?" Questions like these reveal something important: our children are trying to understand the heart of God. And how we respond matters. Raising Children Who Know What God Says About Them.

Words have incredible power.  A few careless comments can linger in a child's heart for years, while consistent words of truth can build confidence that lasts a lifetime. When children understand that they are deeply loved by God and accepted through Jesus, they begin to build a foundation that remains steady even when circumstances change. The world will offer many labels. God's Word offers something far better: truth. Why Identity Matters Every day, children receive messages about who they should be. They may compare themselves with classmates, struggle after making mistakes, or feel discouraged when they don't succeed. Without a strong biblical foundation, these experiences can shape the way they see themselves. But Scripture reminds us that our identity is rooted in Christ, not in our performance. When children learn this early, they develop co...
